What this covers

Sean Leonard runs Arcaniss Lineage personally. This policy covers the pedigree tool at arcanissborzoi.com/lineage, its dog and kennel pages, and the Arcaniss Lineage iPhone app. It doesn’t cover the Arcaniss Borzoi kennel pages or the puppy waitlist form.

You don’t need an account to use Lineage. We don’t show ads, we don’t use analytics or tracking tools, and we don’t sell or rent your information.

What we collect and why

  • Searches and dog records

    What
The name or registration you search for, Breed Archive links you paste, and the dogs and family trees we look up for you.
    Why
To find the dog and build its pedigree. Our server sends the search term to Breed Archive and saves the results so the same search is quick next time, for anyone. The shared list of recent searches holds the dogs each search found and a one way code for the search, never the words you typed or who searched. Your device recognizes a search by computing the same code.
    How long
Saved results are reused for 30 days and the shared list holds the last 100 searches. Saved results are kept until someone asks us to delete them.
  • Research requests

    What
The dog’s pedigree: names, registrations, titles, birth dates and parents. No information about you.
    Why
To find show and field records for the dog and its relatives. We send the pedigree to OpenAI, ask it not to return phone numbers, addresses, emails or owner names, and ask OpenAI not to store the request.
    How long
Results are reused for 30 days (1 day when nothing was found) and kept until someone asks us to delete them. Dogs confirmed on the site may be researched again overnight so the next person gets results sooner.
  • Your email address, if you ask us to email a PDF

    What
The address you type, with the dog and design you chose. In the app you can save a default address, which stays on your phone.
    Why
To email you the pedigree when research finishes. Resend delivers the email.
    How long
Until the email is sent. A send that fails is retried up to 3 times within a day. A request that still hasn’t gone out after a day is erased by a daily cleanup. We don’t keep a list of addresses and the address never goes into our logs.
  • Photos you add

    What
A photo of your dog for the PDF.
    Why
On the website the photo stays in your browser and is never uploaded. In the app it goes to our server only to build that one PDF.
    How long
Not kept. The server uses it in memory for that request and never saves it or logs it. The finished PDF is saved on your phone or computer, not by us.
  • Owner notes

    What
A short note about a dog (200 characters, no links or email addresses). It isn’t tied to your name or an account.
    Why
To show it on the dog’s public page and, if you choose, in the PDF. The note text appears in our request log and in a daily summary email to the site owner so notes can be checked.
    How long
Until you delete it. Deleting needs the private edit token saved on the device that wrote the note, or you can email us. Otherwise notes are kept until someone asks us to delete them.
  • “Fix this” reports

    What
The dog and the detail you think is wrong, an optional note, and an optional email address.
    Why
So the site owner can correct the record. Your email is only used to reply to you. Reports, including the email, are sent to the owner in a daily summary email.
    How long
Until someone asks us to delete it. Email us to have a report removed.
  • App install ID

    What
A random ID the app makes the first time it opens. It isn’t linked to your name, Apple ID or device identifiers.
    Why
The app sends it with each request so limits apply per phone, and so notifications and sign in reach the right phone.
    How long
We store only a one way hash of it, never the ID itself. Deleting the app removes the ID from your phone.
  • Notifications (app)

    What
If you turn notifications on: your phone’s Expo push token, whether notifications are on, and the dogs and kennels you follow.
    Why
To tell you when research is ready and when a dog or kennel you follow has a new result. Expo passes the notification to Apple, which delivers it.
    How long
Until you turn notifications off or unfollow, or Apple reports the token is no longer valid. A pending “tell me when it’s ready” request is dropped after a day.
  • Sign in with Apple and Pro (app, when available)

    What
If you sign in: a hash of the ID Apple gives us for this app. We ask Apple for no name or email and keep neither. If you subscribe: the product, when it expires, whether it was refunded, and a hash of Apple’s transaction ID.
    Why
So your subscription works on each phone you sign in on. Apple handles payment; we never see card details. Apple sends us subscription updates (renewals, expiries, refunds), and we may ask Apple for the current status of a subscription.
    How long
Until you delete the account in the app’s Settings, which removes it, its phone links and its purchase records. Cancel the subscription itself in your Apple ID settings.
  • Limits and request logs

    What
A one way hash of your IP address made with a private salt (and, in the app, of your install ID), counts of what you used today, and a log line for each request with the dog, the design and how long it took. When you save an owner note, the log line includes the note.
    Why
To keep daily limits (for example, 5 new research requests per visitor a day) and to fix problems. We don’t log email addresses or IP addresses.
    How long
Daily counts reset each day. Logs are deleted after 90 days by a daily cleanup. Our host, Vercel, may keep its own request logs, including IP addresses, under its own policy.
03

What stays on your device

  • Website: your recent searches (30 days), dogs you add or import, edit tokens for notes you wrote, and the last few PDFs you made (a day at most). All in your browser’s storage. We don’t use cookies.
  • App: the install ID, your settings (including a default email if you set one), recently viewed dogs, recent searches, saved PDFs, your notes and your litter plan. You can clear recent dogs and searches in Settings.

Clearing your browser’s site data or deleting the app removes these.

04

What is public

Some dogs have a public page at /lineage/dog/…, and kennels at /lineage/kennel/…. They show the dog’s registered name, pedigree, research findings with sources, a Breed Archive photo when there is one, and owner notes. Anyone with the link can see them, though they are hidden from search engines. Dogs you enter by hand or import only in your own browser don’t get a page.

Write owner notes as if anyone could read them, because anyone can.

05

Who else handles it

These services handle information for us. Each has its own privacy policy.

Vercel
Hosts the site, the server code and our storage in the United States (Cleveland, Ohio region).
OpenAI
Researches show and field records from the dog’s pedigree. Nothing about you is sent.
Resend
Sends pedigree emails to the address you give, and the owner’s daily summary.
Expo and Apple Push Notification service
Deliver app notifications using your phone’s push token.
Apple
Sign in with Apple, App Store payments and subscription status.
Breed Archive
The source for most pedigrees. Our server sends it the search terms and dog links you enter, not who you are.
Google Fonts
The website, share pages and pedigree emails load fonts from Google, so your browser or mail app contacts Google when they load.
06

Deleting your information

You can do most of this yourself: delete a note from the device that wrote it, turn off notifications or unfollow in the app, delete your account in the app’s Settings, and clear what’s stored on your device.

For anything else, including a report you sent, a note you can no longer edit, or a question about what we hold, email suby@arcanissborzoi.com. We don’t keep names or accounts for most of this, so tell us the dog, the date, and roughly what you sent so we can find it.

07

Where this applies

Lineage is run from and for the United States, and this policy is written for users in the US. It is governed by the laws of the State of Washington.

08

Changes and contact

If we change what we collect, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
